Zitat:
collider.com: (...)But “Daybreakers” is not like its current brethren - it’s a classic vamp movie that follows some beloved myths while also introducing the genre to a whole new world of deadly circumstances.(...)Campy laughs, serious storylines, scary creatures, blood, guts, and thrills - “Daybreakers” seems to have it all. And while it might not come together in a perfect package, it’s most definitely a fun package.
horrorsnotdead.com: (...)because the film has a lethal, gory seam to its bloodsucker proceedings, DAYBREAKERS is at its core a sci-fi film that happens to be about vampires. It also happens to be a pretty damned good film. Yes, it’s leagues better than their resourceful but lacking, low-budget zombie opus UNDEAD(...)Though most will surely laugh when Dafoe first begins to introduce himself as the overtly southern Elvis, he’s actually the most interesting character in the film, which is kind of a shame considering he’s not the main character. (<- da haben wirs ).(...)DAYBREAKERS is one hell of a memorable film. If you love all things vampires, you’re going to go apeshit for its ideas of an all-vampire world. If, like me, you’ve grown weary of our own real-world society that’s recently fallen back in love with the night walkers, DAYBREAKERS is thankfully unlike any other vampire property on the market right now.
variety.com: (...)Take the futuristic corporate malfeasance of "The Matrix" and the race to find the post-plague cure of "28 Days Later," add vampires, and you've got "Daybreakers,"(...)As a result, it becomes a movie that inadvertently asks the question: If you make vampires so ordinary that they're no longer scary, seductive or endowed with special powers, what's the point in having them at all?
Indeed, despite its fantasy trappings -- vampire-eye contacts, a cold, steely blue, black and gray "Matrix"-y look, etc. -- "Daybreakers" emerges as a competent but routine chase thriller that lacks attention-getting dialogue, unique characters or memorable setpieces that might make it a genre keeper rather than a polished time-filler. Reflecting their uninspired material, thesps deliver adequate clock-punching perfs, though miscast Dafoe's quipping yokel needn't be included in his resume. Production values are glossy; Christopher Gordon's orchestral score takes matters seriously.
denofgeek.com: (...)It's a nice mix of action, sci-fi and thriller, and the tension keeps up throughout. It's not perfect, and there are elements of the climax that are both predictable and cheesy, but I could have sat through much more of this. Indeed, the film's ending seems to scream 'sequel', and if they make it, I'll be there...
